Victoria Gomez is a self-driven senior at Marian High School where she is captain of the Marian Drumline, a member of the National Honor Society, Editor of Yearbook, and participates in various other clubs and activities. As a first generation Mexican-American and the third of seven children, she has learned to value family and diversity above all else. She strives to be a role model to her younger siblings by working hard in school, participating in the community, and helping her siblings with schoolwork.
In the fourth grade, she and her family moved to Mexico for a year. There, she was faced with the challenge of attending a school in which English was not the primary spoken language. Through this experience, she immersed herself in her culture, improved her Spanish, and gained a broader view of the world. Today, Victoria enjoys spending her spare time with her large family, traveling, and learning about new cultures and languages.
After taking a web design class her junior year, her interest for coding and computer science was ignited. She now attends South Bend Code School where she learns how to make websites and applications using the various coding languages. Victoria is very excited to be a part of Startup Moxie this year and is ready to seize every opportunity presented to her. She is especially interested in learning entrepreneurial skills and networking. Next year, she hopes to attend either the University of Notre Dame or Boston College, where she plans to study abroad and major in Computer Science with a minor in International Business.
